The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its 2010 Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams and major awards today with two Fordham Rams earning accolades. Junior goalkeeper Ryan Meara (Crestwood, N.Y./Fordham Prep) was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, while junior midfielder Tim Richardson (Palmerston North, New Zealand/Palmerston North) earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.
Meara, a preseason All-Conference selection at the start of the season, earns First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second straight season. He was an iron man in net for Fordham, playing all but eight minutes this season (1659:10), posting career-best numbers with a 10-8-0 record, a 0.81 goals against average, and an .808 save percentage. He also added 6.5 shutouts and 63 saves. In league play, Meara led the Rams to a 5-4-0 mark, posting a 0.78 goals against average, 3.5 shutouts, and a .825 save percentage.
Richardson, who was also a preseason All-Conference pick at the beginning of the season, earns All-Conference accolades for the second straight season. He tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points and assists with four. He added three goals during the season, two of which were game-winning goals.
The Rams finished at 10-8-0 overall this season, 5-4-0 in the Atlantic 10. It was the team's first ten-win season since 1998.
