Bronx, N.Y. - A busy week for the Fordham volleyball team was highlighted on Thursday night when the Rams hosted the Bid for the Cure Auction in the McGinley Center.

"It was a wonderful evening put together by our girls, and it's for two causes near and dear to my heart," said head coach Peter Volkert. "I'm just so proud of what they've done this evening."

The Fordham volleyball Rams earned their stripes as auctioneers at the Bid for the Cure auction, which benefitted the team as well as the Side Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation was founded to unite volleyball players and coaches in order to work toward raising breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. Money given to The Side-Out Foundation is contributed to organizations that serve breast cancer patients in the form of research, medical services and compassionate support.

The volleyball team has devoted much of their time collecting donations and organizing the Bid for the Cure event.

The event couldn't have happened with out major donations, such as this signed photo by Phil Mickelson.

Up for bids on the silent auction block were the following items & more:

- A Masters flag pin & frame set, signed by Phil Mickelson
- An autographed basketball by Hall of Famer Bill Walton
- A luxury cruise for two
- Autographed picture of NY Jets receiver Jerricho Cotchery
- NY Giants Embossed Team Collector's Ball
- Golf Basket, which includes a Phil Mickelson autographed photo & a wedge club
- Sports Basket, which includes NJ Nets Ticket Vouchers, Chelsea Pier Passes, & a NY Jets Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey
- NY Giants Tailgate Package, which includes a tailgate grill, cooler & NY Giants collapsible chairs
- Spa Treatment Basket with an assortment of items
- Wine Basket, includes six bottles of wine & glasses
- Dinner & a Movie Bundle, which includes a television donated by Best Buy
- Survivor Kit, which includes scrapbooking materials & a disposable camera
- Garden Basket, which includes assorted tools & gardening items
- Lottery Tree Basket

Special thanks go out to the many people who donated items for the evening, especially Phil Mickelson, the New York Giants, the New York Jets, the New Jersey Nets, Best Buy, Mike's Deli on Arthur Avenue, Applebee's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Fordham Alumni Relations, Fordham Athletics, Sodexho, as well as many other in attendance at the event.
