Philadelphia, Pa. - A week after taking second at the Head of the Charles, the Fordham University varsity 8 had another strong showing, placing third of 22 teams in the women's open heavyweight championship eight while another 8 took second of 22 team in the open club eights at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday.

In the women's open heavyweight championship eight, the Rams crossed the line in a time of 15:34.91, the second collegiate boat in the race, just over three seconds behind Rutgers. A boat from the Vesper Boat Club won the event in a time of 14:59.79. The Rams finished ahead of boats from Drexel, Navy, West Virginia, Trinity and Holy Cross as well as Atlantic 10 boats from Temple and La Salle.

In the women's open club eight race, Fordham was second behind Trinity College, covering the course in a tine of 15:50.58.

The Rams also had a boat compete in the Women's College Freshman/Novice 8 with the crew finishing 17th of 26 competitors.
