Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham women's tennis squad hosted Manhattan on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts with the Rams shutting out the Jaspers, 7-0.

Fordham opened the match taking the doubles point, winning two of the three doubles matches. Sarah Tremaine and Mia Fiocca won at first doubles over Lili Johnson and Christina Puleo, 8-5, and Angelika Dabu and Hanna Fritzinger took second doubles from Hilary Valenzuela and Stephanie Tsao, 8-4. At third doubles, Bethany Boyle and Monika Chao fell to Manhattan's Christina Toa and Brianna Turano, 8-5.

The Rams then swept all six singles matches, five of them in straight sets. Dabu defeated Valenzuela at second single, 6-2, 6-1, Tremaine was victorious at the third position over Toa, 6-0, 6-1, Fritzinger upended Puleo, 6-2, 6-2, at fourth singles, Boyle took the fifth spot from Turano, 6-2, 6-3, and Chao shutout Megan Maffei at sixth singles, 6-, 6-0.

Fiocca was the only one to go to a tiebreaker, winning the first set from Johnson, 6-4, before Johnson forced a tiebreaker by winning the second set, 7-6. Fiocca then won the set with a 9-7 win in the tiebreaker.

The Fordham women's tennis team will next be in action on Sunday, October 3rd, when it hosts Rhode Island at 1:00 PM on the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts.
