Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University's Brian Walter (Haddon Heights, N.J./Paul VI) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week it was announced by the league office today. It is Walter's first weekly accolade and marks the second straight week the Rams have been recognized by the conference as Fordham swept the men's and women's awards last week.

At the 2010 St. John's Fall Festival Invitational on Sunday Walter claimed second place in a time of 19:36 over the 6K course. He was the second Fordham finisher and top freshman in the field of 55 runners. Walter's finish helped the carry the Rams to victory.

On the year, Walter has competed in four of the six cross country races for the Rams with his top 8K time coming at the C.W. Post Invitational on September 18th where he finished third in the race in a time of 26:29.80.

The Fordham men's and women's cross country squads will next be in action on Saturday, October 30th, as they travel to Pittsburgh to compete in the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship at Schenley Park beginning at 10:00 a.m.
