Bridgeport, Pa. - Fordham junior goalkeeper Christian Flessner (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) was named CWPA Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week for games through October 12th, it was announced today by the league office. In addition, senior Alex Powell (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes) was named to the Northern Division Weekly Honor Roll. For Flessner, it was his second career CWPA weekly honor.

Flessner's best game of the week came versus No. 16 Concordia (Calif.), as he posted eight saves in a 10-8 upset victory. In addition, he added six saves in three quarters versus No. 15 California Baptist, eight saves versus the United States Air Force Academy, 11 stops versus Division III No. 5 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and eight saves in three quarters against Division III No. 10 University of La Verne.

Powell was also instrumental in the Rams' upset win over No. 16 Concordia, netting a team-high four goals in the contest to go with two assists. He also added two goals and an assist against No. 15 California Baptist.

The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Sunday, October 24th, when the team hosts a pair of contests at the Messmore Aquatic Center. The Rams will play Mercyhurst at 10:30 AM and then Gannon at 3:00 PM.
