Blake Wayne Honored by College Football Performance Awards

2010 College Football Performers of the Week (Oct. 4, 2010)

Bronx, N.Y. - For the second consecutive week, Fordham University sophomore quarterback Blake Wayne (Concord, Calif./De LaSalle) was honored by the College Football Performance Awards as a national NCAA FCS honorable mention quarterback performer of the week it was announced today. He is the third Ram to be honored in the past six weeks, joining Patrick Murray, who was twice named a national NCAA FCS honorable mention punter performer of the week, and Jason Caldwell, who earned the honor at wide receiver.

In Fordham's 21-17 Patriot League loss at Lehigh on Saturday, Wayne completed 24 of 41 passes for 343 yards, all season highs, with one touchdown and he also rushed 14 times for 21 net yards. The 343 passing yards ties Wayne for the 16th best passing day in Fordham history.

On the year, Wayne is second on the squad with 385 rushing yards on 89 carries (4.3 yards/carry) with four touchdowns while also completing 119 of 197 passes for 1,343 yards and five touchdowns. He leads the Patriot League in total offense (288.0 yards/game), is second in passing yards/game (223.8), fourth in rushing yards/game (64.2) and fourth in passing efficiency (124.0).

The Rams will continue their 2010 schedule on Saturday, October 16th, as they travel to New Haven, Conn., to face the Yale University Bulldogs at 12:00 noon in their final non-conference game of the year. The game will be televised live by the YES Network.
