Newport News, Va. - Fordham University freshman forward Chris Gaston (Palisades Park, N.J,/St. Anthony) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week it was announced by the conference office today. This is the second A-10 Rookie of the Week award for Gaston, who also received the accolade on December 13th. He shares the honor with Charlotte's Chris Braswell.

In Fordham's lone game of the week, a 79-66 loss at Kennesaw State on Tuesday, Gaston scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record his eighth double-double of the season. He shot 11-of-23 from the field and added two assists and one steal.

On the year, Gaston, who has scored at least 20 points six times this season, leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 19.5 ppg, and is ranked second in rebounding, averaging 10.9 rpg. He also leads the team and is ranked sixth in the conference in blocks with 20 (1.8 blocks/game) and is seventh in the league in field goal percentage, converting 82 of his 169 shoots (48.5%).

The Rams will next be in action tonight as the take on Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, at 6:00 PM.
