Fordham's Megan Arend Named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham sophomore libero Megan Arend (Elk Grove, Calif./St. Francis) was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 27th. It is Arend's first career weekly honor and the first for a Ram this season.

Arend, a 2008 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team selection, averaged 5.43 digs per set in the Rams' opening conference matches against Duquesne and Saint Louis this past weekend. On Friday, she set a career-high with 26 digs against Duquesne, while having a match-high 12 digs versus 23rd-ranked Saint Louis on Saturday.

On the season, Arend leads the Rams with 219 digs and a 3.37 digs per set average.

Arend and the Fordham volleyball team will have three matches this week, starting on Tuesday, September 29th at Hofstra, beginning at 7:00 PM. The Rams then travel to Charlotte for a 7:00 PM contest on Friday, October 2nd, as well as a road match at George Washington on Sunday, October 4th, at 1:00 PM.
