Fordham's Jason Del Rosso Named Atlantic 10 Golf Performer & Rookie of the Week

Sept. 28, 2009

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham freshman Jason Del Rosso (Orlando, Fla./Bishop Moore) was named Atlantic 10 Golf Performer and Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 27th. It is Del Rosso's first career weekly honor and the first for a Ram this season.

Del Rosso tied for first overall at the Dartmouth Invitational this past weekend, but lost the individual title on the first playoff hole to Dartmouth's James Pleat. He helped Fordham place third overall out of 13 teams.

He shot a school record low round of 67 (-4) on the opening day of the tournament, which included seven birdies. He also finished with a two-day total of 139, which was also the lowest in the Fordham record book.

The previous Fordham mark for a single round was 68, set twice in 2006 by Michael Finocchi and Brian McClure, while the previous two-day total was 140, set in 2007, by Nico Mizono at the Hofstra Invitational.

Del Rosso and the rest of the Fordham golf team will next be in action on October 3rd and 4th, as they compete at Yale's MacDonald Cup in New Haven, Connecticut.
