Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University freshman cross country runner Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week it was announced today for the week ending September 27th. It is the first weekly award for Saad and the first A-10 weekly honor for a Fordham men's cross country runner since Brian Riley received his second Rookie of the Week honor last October.

Saad placed 12th overall for the Rams at the Fr. Leeber Invitational held on Saturday, September 26th at Fairfield University. His time of 25:56 over the 8K course was his fastest of the year and the fourth fastest for a Fordham harrier this fall.

Fordham won the team competition at the Leeber Invitational among the nine schools competing.

The Fordham cross country squad will next be in action on Friday, October 9th, when they will host the 2009 Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park beginning at 2:00 p.m.
