Hamilton, N.Y. - The Fordham University football squad will open its 2009 Patriot League schedule on Saturday night as the Rams travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to face Colgate University, the defending Patriot League champions, in Andy Kerr Stadium at 6:00 PM.
This will be the 21st meeting between Fordham and Colgate on the gridiron, with Colgate leading the all-time series, which started in 1989, 16-4. Colgate has taken five of the last six, including a 31-24 win on Jack Coffey Field on September 27th last fall when Jordan Scott rushed for 272 yards and four scores, including the game-winner with nine seconds left in the game.
The Rams will be led into the game by senior quarterback John Skelton who leads the NCAA Football Championships Subdivision (FCS) in passing yards, averaging 342.5/game, and total offense, averaging 394.5 yards/game. He is also tied for fourth in points responsible for per game (21.0), seventh in completions per game (26.50) and is 12th in total passing yards (685).
As a team, the Rams rank second in passing offense (342.5 yards/game), fifth in first downs per game (23.5) and sixth in total offense (478.5 yards/game).
