Fordham softball continued their fall success on Saturday, picking up a pair of victories at the BAGSAI Softball Complex in Binghamton, N.Y.
The Rams topped Ivy League champion Cornell in the opening contest by a 6-1 score.
All the offensive damage for the Rams came on two swings, as Meghan Shager and Beckah Wiggins both connected on three-run home runs in the game.
In the circle, Jen Mineau and Wiggins combined for 14 strikeouts in the game. Mineau threw the first five innings, allowing just three hits in five innings with 11 strikeouts, while Wiggins closed the final two innings with three strikeouts and one run allowed.
In game two, Fordham pitchers Chelsea Plimpton and Jamie Pollak combined to no-hit Binghamton by a 5-0 count.
Plimpton allowed just one walk in the first four innings with three strikeouts, while Pollak also gave up just one walk and struck out four in three innings of relief.
At the plate, Wiggins was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base, while Shager reached base twice and had a pair of stolen bases. Samantha Pellechio drove in three runs in the game, with Nicole Callahan having a pair of RBI.
The Rams will now have a pair of home games on Sunday, September 27th, against Fairleigh Dickinson at 9:00 AM and C.W. Post at 11:00 AM.
