Golf Opens Fall Season at Colgate Invitational

Hamilton, N.Y. - The Fordham University golf team opened its 2009 fall scheduled on Saturday, competing on the first day of play at the 2009 Colgate Invitational at the Seven Oaks Golf Course where the Rams sit in fifth place of nine teams.

The Colgate Maroon squad leads the team contest with a score of 295 followed by Lafayette (297). Bucknell and Laval are tied for third with a score of 300 while the Rams sit in fifth with a team total of 304.

Individually, Colgate's Ben Jessen and Lafayette's Rob Robertson are tied for the lead with a 71 while Fordham's Devon O'Rourke is one of three players tied for third, two strokes back at 73. David Newman, who had the second best day for a Ram, is in a group of four players tied for sixth with a 74 while Charles Smith sits in 29th place with a first day total of 79. Jason Del Rosso is tied for 26th for the Rams with a 78 while Nik Andresen shot an 83 in the first round to sit in a tie for 43rd.

The Rams will close out play at the Colgate Invitational on Sunday.
