Fordham Women's Basketball 2009-10 Non-Conference Schedule
Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University head women's basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi announced the 2009-10 non-conference schedule. Seven home and eight away games with match-ups against Big East and SEC opponents, and a trip over Thanksgiving break to the Florida Atlantic Tournament highlight the first half of the season.
"Our team will be tested from day one with a strong non-conference schedule which will prepare us for the Atlantic 10 Conference schedule," remarked Andruzzi. "The diverse group of talented teams we face early in the season will provide our six newcomers and nine returners with the challenges and experience they will need to be ready to battle once our conference schedule starts."
The Rams will tip off the regular season with a home opener against Albany on Friday, November 13th, at 6:00 PM, followed by road games at 2009 NIT participant Central Connecticut State (Nov. 18) and Bucknell (Nov. 21) before the Rams head back to Rose Hill for a match against Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 24).
Next on the Rams' slate is the Florida Atlantic Tournament running November 27th and 28th. Fordham has been paired up with Florida Atlantic for the first game and will play either San Jose University or University of Mississippi in the final round.
The start of December brings three straight MAAC opponents starting with a trip to St. Peter's College (Dec. 2nd) before Fordham hosts Rider (Dec. 5 - Alumni Day) and Iona (Dec. 9). UNC-Greensboro makes their way to Rose Hill on December 12th with the Ram's taking on Manhattan College in the Battle of the Bronx on December 22nd.
The Fourth Annual Fordham Holiday Classic is set to take place on December 28th and 29th with the Rams taking on Binghamton in the first day of competition and UMBC in the final day of play. East Carolina University will also take part in the Holiday Classic.
New Years Eve brings the Rams face-to-face with Big East opponent Providence, with the close of the non-conference schedule slated for January 2nd at Princeton.
