Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham women's Basketball incoming freshman Charlotte Stoddart (Manchester, England/Loreto School) has not taken the final summer before her first year at Fordham University lightly, as she is one of 15 players selected to compete on the U20 Great Britain National Team and will compete in the 2009 European Championships in Ohrid, Macedonia.
Great Britain has been placed in Division B and, should they be one of the top eight of the 11 teams in the division, they will move on to the quarterfinals.
This is not Stoddart's first time traveling with the Great Britain National Team as she averaged 17.2 points-per-game with the U18 team last year. She will take that experience into Great Britain's first match against Greece on July 6, with the team also having scheduled matches against Hungary, Portugal, Belgium and Austria through July 16.
"I am very proud and happy for Charlotte to be selected to play on the U20 Great Britain National Team," said Fordham women's baseketball head coach Cathy Andruzzi. "Charlotte has been focused and dedicated in her pursuit to represent her country in the European Championships. The Fordham women's basketball family will be rooting for our Charlotte. We wish her the best of luck."
