Baseball Takes On UMass in A10 Championships Today at Noon

May 20, 2009

Dayton, Ohio - The diamond is prepped and the lines are chalked as the Fordham Rams are ready to take on the University of Massachusetts in the opening game of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championships today at 12:00 PM.

J.P. Mack is set to take the hill for the Rams and looks to have the same success that he had earlier in the year against the Minutemen. In that start, Mack went 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits as the duo of Jordan Grangard and Chris Kaible finished the game for the win.

Both teams are coming into the tournament on a hot streak during the final stretch of the regular season with UMass winning eight of their nine last conference games while the Rams closed out the season with sweeps over Richmond and Temple.

This will be the fourth meeting between the Rams and the Minutemen this year with Fordham sweeping UMass in their three-game series at Houlihan Park. In those games, Bobby DiNardo led the pack, going 3-9 with a home run and a pair of RBI. On the hill, John Flanagan threw into the tenth inning in his start, allowing only two runs, one earned, on five hits while Jake Rabinowitz toed the rubber for one of his best pitching performances at Fordham, throwing eight innings of one-run baseball while striking out seven.
