Danny Leach and Daniel Munday Earn Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University senior Danny Leach (Yonkers, N.Y./Iona Prep) has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week while freshman pitcher Daniel Munday (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Xavier) has earned his second-straight Rookie of the Week honor in the week ending on May 17, as announced by the league office.

Leach earns his first Atlantic 10 weekly award of his career after putting up stellar numbers at the plate, batting .500 (9-18) over four games while scoring nine runs. He also added four RBI, two doubles, one triple, four walks and three stolen bases in the week.

This makes back-to-back weeks that Leach has batted .500 as he has gone 16-32 in the last seven games with 17 runs scored and nine stolen bases. Leach also has had eight multi-hit games during his current nine-game hitting streak and has increased his batting average to a team-leading .336.

Freshman Daniel Munday


Munday brings in his second-straight Atlantic 10 rookie honor after notching his third save of the year on 3.1 innings of one-hit relief work in the Rams' 15-6 win over Temple.

The freshman threw another two-thirds of an inning when Fordham defeated Temple, 8-6, to give him a total of 4.0 innings pitched in the week while giving up only two hits. Like Leach, Munday's excellent numbers extend back to a week earlier as he has not given up an earned run in his last 9.1 innings while surrendering only four hits in four appearances.
