Two School Records Fall at ECAC/IC4A Championships

Princeton, N.J. - Members of the Fordham Univeristy men's and women's outdoor track and field squads had a successful outing at the 2009 ECAC/IC4A Championships held at Princeton Univeristy from May 15-17 with two school records falling at the meet.

Senior Matt DiBuono was the first record-setter for the Rams, placing third in the hammer throw competition with a top throw of 214' 4", just seven inches behind second place finisher Seid Mujanovic of Manhattan. His throw surpassed his previous school record of 213' 5", set at the Metropolitan Championships in April.

The other school record to fall was the women's 4x800 relay. The team of Kerri Gallagher, Kathleen Reilly, Catherine Groene and Melissa Salerno placed third in the finals in a time of 8:54.18, breaking the former record of 8:55.72 set at the Atlantic 10 Championship on May 2nd. The relay qualified for the finals by placing ninth in the preliminaries in a time of 8:59.50.

Also competing at the ECAC Championships for the Fordham women was Melissa Salerno, who took ninth in the 1500m in a time of 4:29.57.

On the men's side, DiBuono was joined by the 4x800 relay of Tim Hutchinson, Brian Horowitz, Kevin Fitzgerald and Brian Schmidt that took 25th in a time of 7:42.76.

DiBuono will next be in action on May 29th as he competes in the hammer competition at the NCAA Outdoor East Regionals in Greensboro, N.C.
