Men's Soccer Elects Team Captains For 2009 Season

May 12, 2009

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham men's soccer team announced their captains today as fifth-year senior Chris Paolino and seniors Mike McTigue and Alex Brunbauer were elected to lead the team for the 2009 season.

Paolino returns as a fifth-year senior, after missing the entire 2008 season due to injury. Prior to his injury, the Sands Point, N.Y. native, had appeared in 46 games over his first three seasons, making eight starts. Overall, he has two goals and an assist for five points in his career.

McTigue has been a staple on Fordham backline over the past two seasons, after transferring from Loyola (Md,). He started all 18 games in 2008, recording four assists, good for second on the squad, while helping the Fordham defense record eight shutouts and a 0.96 goals against average.

Brunbauer has contributed from day one with the Fordham men's soccer program starting 41 of 46 games he has appeared in over the past three seasons. Seeing most of his time as a defensive midfielder, he has one goal and one assist in his career, with that lone goal coming last season.

The Fordham men's soccer team will open their 2009 season on September 2nd, as they host Hartwick College, beginning at 7:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field.
