Daniel Munday Named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week

May 11, 2009

Philadelphia, Pa. - Freshman pitcher Daniel Munday (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending on May 10, as announced by the league office.

Munday earns his first conference weekly award after making two appearances in the three-game sweep of the University of Richmond, throwing a total of 5.1 innings while only giving only one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts.

The freshman came in relief of J.P. Mack in the first game of the series, with the Rams down 8-7, and threw 1.1 innings of near perfect baseball by giving up only one walk. Munday was rewarded with his first collegiate win as the Rams scored a run in both the seventh and eighth inning to get the 9-8 win.

Munday returned the next day, putting in four innings of work on the hill while giving up his lone hit of the week and striking out a career-high six batters to earn his second save of the year.

This marks the first time since Tom Davis' Co-Rookie of the Week award for the week of April 4, 2005 that a Fordham rookie has earned weekly accolades from the conference.

The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday, May 12, as they host Sacred Heart University at 7:00 PM.
