Fordham senior Matt DiBuono (New Rochelle, N.Y./Iona Prep) was named Atlantic 10 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Performer of the Week, for the week ending April 5th, it was announced today. DiBuono, who shares the award with Charlotte's Darius Law, earns his third Atlantic 10 Track & Field Performer of the Week award this year after winning the award four times in 2007-08.
DiBuono competed in the hammer throw at the 2009 Colonial Relays on Friday where he won the event with a school-record throw of 206' 2", surpassing his previous school record of 202' 0" set last weekend at the Raleigh Relays. The 206' 2" toss qualifies DiBuono for the NCAA championships and improves on his IC4A qualifying mark.
DiBuono also took seventh in the discus at the Colonial Relays on Saturday with a season-best throw of 146' 0.5".
DiBuono entered the outdoor off a very successful indoor season in which he won the Atlantic 10 weight throw title and took third at the IC4A Indoor Championship with a school-record throw of 63' 7.5". The throw surpassed his own school mark of 61' 10.25" set at the Atlantic 10 Championship and earned DiBuono All-East honors.
The Fordham Track and Field team will next be in action on Saturday, April 11th, as they compete at the FDU Invitational in Teaneck, N.J.
