Golf Places 12th at 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - The Fordham Univeristy golf squad completed play at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort on Sunday by placing 12th in the 12-team tournament.

Junior Corey Nagy shot one-over par for the round and one-under over 54 holes to win the individual title and Charlotte finished 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Xavier on Sunday to capture its fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 Golf Championship.

Playing in near-perfect conditions for the third straight day on the 6,887-yard, par-71 course, Charlotte (+20/872) became the first A-10 program to win four straight titles since Penn State won five consecutive crowns from 1986-91. XU shot 10-over for the day and 31-over par (883) for the Championship for its third runner-up finish in the past four years.

Richmond junior Robert Lindstrom carded a final round 69, the top individual effort of the day, as the Spiders (+45/897) posted the low round of the day at five-over par to place third overall. It marked their highest finish since tying for third in 2005.

Temple (+55/907), finished fourth, its highest finish since a 2002, followed by Rhode Island (+62/914), St. Bonaventure (+65/917), Dayton (+78/930), George Washington (+85/937), Saint Joseph's (+87/939), Duquesne (+117/969), La Salle (+125/977) and Fordham (+152/1004).

Leading the Rams was Devon O'Rourke, who shot a final day 77 to bring his three-round total to 240, tying him for 40th overall. Nik Andresen recorded an 85 on Sunday to bring his total to 248, tying him for 49th overall, while Charles Smith scored an 84 in the third round to total 254 for the tournament, good for 55th place. Niko Mizono carded a three-day total of 271 to finish 58th while Zach Murray had a 275 total to place 59th.
