The Fordham Univeristy men's tennis squad closed out their 2009 season with a 4-0 loss to Dayton at the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship on Saturday at the Club 4 Life. With the loss, the Rams finish in a tie for eleventh place with La Salle at the tournament.
The Flyers opened the match taking the doubles point, winning both of the completed doubles matches. Dayton's Matt Sherman and Michael Koscielski defeated Brandon Abbatiello and Andriy Kulak, 8-3, at second doubles while Bryce Warnock and Phillip Dresdan took third doubles from Fordham's Ken Fukumoto and Eli Plangger, 8-1.
Dayton then won the match by winning three singles matches. Sherman upended Abbatiello at second singles (6-2 and 6-2) while Bryce Warnock defeated Kevin Maloney at third singles (6-0 and 6-1) and David Peyton was victorious over Sotiris Georgiou at fourth singles (6-1 and 6-2).
