Golf Continues Play at 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -

The Fordham Univeristy golf squad continued play at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort where the Rams sit in 12th place following the two rounds of the tournament.

Junior Corey Nagy fired a two-under par 69 to take a two-shot lead over teammate Stefan Wiedergruen atop the leaderboard as Charlotte moved one step closer to its fourth consecutive title after second round action on Saturday.

Playing under brilliant sunshine on the 6,887-yard, par-71 course at Mission Inn Resort, the 49ers shot a six-over par 290 and hold a 16-shot advantage over runner-up Xavier (+20) heading into Sunday's final round.

Temple is in third place at 33-over par, followed by St. Bonaventure (+34), Richmond (+40), Rhode Island (+42), Dayton (+57), Saint Joseph's (+62), George Washington (+64), Duquesne (+82), La Salle (+84) and Fordham (+102).

Leading the Rams after two days of competition is Devon O'Rourke and Nik Andresen, who each shot an 85 on day two after carding a seven-over 78 over the first 18 holes of the tournament to tie for 45th overall. Charles Smith scored an 83 on the first day and an 87 today for a 170 total, good for a tie for 56th, while Niko Mizono has a two-day total of 174 (86-88) to sit in 59th place and Zach Murray has a 187 total (96-91) to sit in 60th place.
