Philadelphia, Pa. - The Fordham Univeristy men's and women's track and field squad closed out their stay at the 2009 Penn Relays in fine fashion as senior Matt DiBuono won the collegiate hammer throw title on Saturday.
DiBuono won the hammer event with a throw of 206' 11", more than eight feet better than runner-up James Eric of Findlay College.
Also competing on the final day was the men's and women's 4x800 relays, which both finished in the top ten. The men's team of Clifton Hilario, Brian Schmidt, Tim Hutchinson and Tom Finnerty placed seventh in a season-best time of 7:34.68 while the women's team of Kerri Gallagher, Melissa Salerno, Kathleen Reilly and Catherine Groene finished ninth in a season-best time of 9:01.39.
The Fordham outdoor track and field teams will next be in action on Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd, as they compete at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship at Charlotte's Irwin Belk Stadium.
