Fordham's Dallas Harting won at second singles over La Salle's Christian Harvey but that would be the only point the Rams would get as Fordham fell to the Explorers, 6-1, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. With the loss, the Rams fall to 5-10 on the year while La Salle improves to 11-10.
Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point to La Salle, losing all three doubles matches. Harting and Eli Plangger lost at first doubles to George Gennaoui and Jon Maula, 8-4, while Pat Tool and Nick Kelly dropped second doubles to Harvey and Morgan Abrams-Nicholas, 9-8 (dropping the tiebreaker 7-2) and Andriy Kulak and Ken Fukumoto were upended at third doubles by Chris Butera and Fernando Tovia, 8-5.
Harting then picked up a point for Fordham at second singles, defeating Harvey in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2.
Fordham also had a chance for a point at third and fifth singles, with each match going three sets. Brandon Abbatiello took the first set at third singles from Maula, 6-3, before falling in the next two, 6-3 and 6-2. At fifth singles, Sotiris Georgiou dropped the first set to Abrams-Nicholas, 6-3, before coming back to force a third set with a 6-4 win. However, Georgiou lost the third set, 8-6.
The Rams will next be in action on Wednesday, April 22nd, as they travel to Fairfield, Conn., to face Sacred Heart University at 3:00 p.m.
