Collingswood, N.J. - The Fordham University women's rowing squad competed at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship on the Cooper River this afternoon where the Rams placed eighth. The University of Massachusetts captured its league-record 13th Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing title, beating out defending champion Rhode Island by a 24-point margin.
Scoring for the Rams were the varsity eight, which placed sixth, just over a second behind fifth-place Temple.
The other crew scoring for Fordham was the second varsity eight which won the petite final, easily beating Temple to the finish line.
The only other Fordham entry at the championships was the novice 4 shell which placed third, behind Massachusetts and George Washington.
The Rams will next be in action next Saturday, April 25th, as they compete at the 2009 Spring Metropolitan Championships at Orchard Beach, N.Y.
