Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's tennis team dropped their final home match of the spring season to St. John's on Monday afternoon by a final score of 6-1. The Rams were to have one more home match on Tuesday against Concordia but that match has been moved to Concordia due to possible poor weather.

With the loss, Fordham is now 4-9 on the season.

St. John's opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Jenny Yonkus and Joanna Zwirbulis topped Dominique Liguori and Martina Featherston at first singles by a score of 8-5, while Sarah Tremaine and Bethany Boyle fell to Nakita Austin and Ira Aleksova at second doubles, 8-3. Gabija Gasiunaite and Ece Firat then completed the sweep with a third doubles victory over Elizabeth Stall and Kathryn Silva, 8-1.

In singles play, Liguori picked up the lone point for the Rams, defeating Aleksova, 6-1, 6-1, at first singles. Besides Liguori, Stall had the next best performance, falling to Yonkus, 6-3, 6-3, at sixth singles.

The Fordham women's tennis team will next be in action on Tuesday, April 14th as they play at Concordia College at 4:00 PM.
