Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University senior pitcher J.P. Mack (Plano, Tex./Jesuit College Prep) was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on April 12th, as announced by the league office.
Mack earns the award after a stellar outing against Duquesne on Saturday, April 11, when the senior threw seven complete innings, giving up only one run on five hits and two walks while setting a new career high for strikeouts in a game with nine.
With the success in his latest outing, Mack has lowered his ERA in Atlantic 10 games to 1.86, a number good for fifth in the conference. The senior has been the most consistent starter in the Fordham rotation by lasting an average of seven innings per game in his four conference starts while earning the win in three of those contests.
On the year, Mack leads the Rams with a 3.95 ERA and has a team best 34 strikeouts in his 54.2 innings of work.
This marks the first time since Cory Riordan's Co-Pitcher of the Week award for the week of April 2, 2007, that a Fordham pitcher has earned the weekly accolades from the conference.
Mack and the rest of the Fordham baseball team will host Rutgers University on Tuesday, April 14, at 4:00 PM and Columbia University on Wednesday, April 15, at 4:00 PM before heading out to Cincinnati, Ohio to continue conference action against Xavier on Friday, April 17.
