Boston, Mass. - The Fordham University men's track and field squads competed at the 2009 IC4A Championship on Saturday and Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
The Fordham men finished in a tie for 25th place, thanks to a school record-setting performance from senior Matt DiBuono, who placed third in a weight throw with a toss of 63' 7.5". The throw surpassed his own school mark of 61' 10.25" set at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
The Rams also had two individuals compete in the 500m preliminaries on day one with Brian Schmidt taking 19th in 1:04.24 and Brandon Ryan 36th in 1:05.42.
In relays, the 4x800 relay and the distance medley relay each qualified for Sunday's finals. The distance medley relay of Clifton Hilario, Ryan, Schmidt, and Tom Finnerty placed sixth in the prelims a time of 9:55.04 while the 4x800 relay of Brian Horowitz, Ryan Serkes, Kevin Fitzgerald and Tim Hutchinson took ninth in a season-best time of 7:38.43.
On Sunday, the distance medley relay took fifth in the finals in a season-best time of 9:54.84 while the 4x800 relay finished ninth in the finals in 7:42.41.
The 4x400 of Nick Delligatti, Christopher Lyons, Paul Szczepaniak and Ryan Campi finished 26th in the preliminaries in 3:30.73.
The Fordham women are in a tie for 22nd thanks to a sixth place finish by Jeana Fletcher in the pentathlon.
Fletcher scored 3,369 points in the event, taking third in the shot put (36' 5.5"), sixth in the high jump (5' 2.25") and the 800m (2:29.36), seventh in the 60m hurdles (9.47) and the long jump (16' 2.25").
