Men's Basketball Closes Out Atlantic 10 Season with Senior Day on Saturday

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's basketball Rams will close out their 2009 Atlantic 10 schedule as they host the Saint Joseph's University Hawks fro Senior Day in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon, March 7th, at 1:00 p.m.

The game will mark the final Rose Hill Gym appearance for three Fordham seniors, Chris Bethel, Luke Devine and Zach Wing, who will be honored in a pregame ceremony.

The Rams enter the game with a 3-24 overall record, 1-14 in the Atlantic 10, and are coming off a 79-59 conference loss at La Salle last Wednesday night. Saint Joseph's enters the game with a 15-14 overall record, 8-7 in the A-10, and is coming off a 68-59 A-10 loss at Temple on Thursday.

Fordham will be led into the game by freshman guard Jio Fontan, who leads the team and all Atlantic 10 freshmen in scoring with a 15.3 ppg average and in assists with 128. He has scored in double figures in 15 of the past 16 games, averaging 16.9 ppg over that stretch. Sophomore guard Mike Moore is second on the team in scoring (13.3 ppg) while Bronx native Chris Bethel leads the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and is third in scoring with a 10.3 ppg average, but he has been sideline since suffering a season-ending injury on January 31st.

Saint Joseph's will be led into the game by Ahmad Nivins, who is averaging 19.7 ppg and 11.6 rpg, while Tasheed Carr is averaging 13.5 ppg, shooting over 40% from behind the arc.

Saturday's game will be the 41st meeting between the Rams and the Hawks on the hardwood. Saint Joseph's leads the all-time series, 24-16, and have won two straight and 14 of the past 16 meetings, including an 80-62 win at the Atlantic 10 Championship last March.
