Fordham's Melissa Andrews & Jen Mineau Earn Atlantic 10 Softball Weekly Honors

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University senior outfielder Melissa Andrews (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Buena Vista) and freshman pitcher Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) were honored by the Atlantic 10 today, being named Softball Co-Player and Pitcher/Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending March 29th. This is the second Player of the Week honor for Andrews this spring, the third of her career, while Mineau picks up her second Pitcher and Rookie of the Week accolade. The duo duplicated their March 16th feat, when Andrews and Mineau received the same honors. Mineau was also named ECAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time

Andrews hit .444 (8-18) with 10 runs scored, while going a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts, helping the Rams go 6-0 on the week. She finished the week with a .545 on-base percentage, a .611 slugging percentage, and three multi-hit games to increase her team-leading total to 12 this season. She scored a season-high four runs in game two against Quinnipiac on Wednesday, and notched her conference-leading fourth triple and scored twice in the Rams' opening win against La Salle on Friday.

On the season, Andrews is batting .313 on the season, leading the team in runs scored (28), triples (4), and multi-hit games (12).

Mineau had another terrific week, going 5-0 in five appearances, posting a 0.27 ERA. She allowed only one earned run in 25.2 innings, striking out 32 batters, while walking just two batters. In conference play, Mineau struck out nine La Salle batters in a two-hit shutout on Friday, and then gave up only one hit and struck out four to complete the series sweep of La Salle on Saturday. On Sunday, she struck out a total of 14 batters in 11.2 innings in a doubleheader sweep of the Colonials on Sunday

With the perfect week, Mineau lowered her team-leading ERA to 1.39 to go with 12 wins, three shutouts, and 104 strikeouts.

The Rams (22-12) who are riding a six-game winning streak, return to action on Wednesday, April 1st, as they play two games at St. John's, beginning at 3:00 PM.
