The Fordham University men's tennis team hosted Wagner College on Friday and came away with a 7-0 shutout win over the Seahawks on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts. With the win, the Rams even their record at 5-5 on the year.
Fordham opened the match by winning all six singles matches, all in straight sets. Dallas Harting took first singles from Wagner's John Leblanc (6-2, 6-1) while Brandon Abbatiello didn't lose a game to Wagner's Marcelo Ensignia, winning at second singles 6-0 and 6-0.
Kevin Maloney picked up the win at third singles for the Rams, besting Wagner's Jeremy Beckles (6-1, 6-0) while Sotiris Georgiou was victorious at fourth singles over Ben Serbiak, Pat Tool took fifth singles from Sheldon Wilson and Peter Slucky won at sixth singles over Robert Santana by identical 6-0 and 6-0 scores.
In doubles play, the Rams took the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. Kevin Sullivan and Julian Edelman teamed up to win at second doubles over Beckles and Serbiak, 8-3, while Rob Evans and Eli Plangger took third doubles from Wilson and Santana, 8-0.
The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, March 28th, as they host Saint Joseph's University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 1:00 p.m.
