Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham baseball team will host the New York Institute of Technology today at 3:00 PM for the Rams' first home game of the 2009 season.

Over the past 20 years, Fordham has posted an 18-1-1 record in baseball home openers. The lone loss came against Maine on March 21, 2000, when the Rams fell to the Black Bears, 7-6. The 7-7 tie came on March 14, 1989 against Fairleigh Dickinson.

The original 2009 home opener was supposed to kick-off on March 4, against Manhattan, but that game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Fordham's home field advantage will be short lived as the Rams will hit the road for eight games starting with a four-game set at Wofford College on March 13.
