Amherst, Mass. - The Fordham University women's tennis team played its second match of the spring season on Sunday, February 8th, as the Rams traveled to Amherst, Massachusetts, to face the University of Massachusetts at the Bay Road Tennis Club where the Minutewomen upended the Rams, 6-1.

The match started with Massachusetts winning the doubles point, taking all three doubles matches. Dominique Liguori and Martina Featherston fell at first doubles to Candynce Boney and Maude Lecluyse, 9-8 (7-4) while Sarah Tremaine and Bethany Boyle lost at second doubles to UMass' Laura Danai and Tanisha Hodgson, 8-1. At third doubles, Fordham's Jane Carroll and Kathryn Silva lost to Kaitlyn Carpenter and Magdalena Ploch, 8-1.

In singles play, Liguori picked up Fordham's point with a straight set win over Boney, winning the first set, 7-6 (2) and the second, 6-3. The Minutewomen took the other five singles matches, all in straight sets, for the 6-1 team win.

The Fordham women's tennis squad will next be in action on Saturday, February 14th as they travel to Jersey City, N.J., to face Saint Peter's College at 1:30 p.m.
