Feb. 9, 2009

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University junior swimmer Caitlin Napoli (Hauppauge, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and freshman diver Andrea Krok (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) were named Atlantic 10 Women's Swimmer Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively, it was announced on Monday. Napoli earns her eighth career weekly award (three performer and four rookie) while Krok picks up her first and joins Kelly Bunster, who won the award last week, in earning A-10 Rookie of the Week honors.

The Rams had one meet on the week, hosting St. Francis (N.Y.) College in the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. Napoli led the Fordham women to a 136-85 win by placing first in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.10) and 100-yard backstroke (1:00.07). Her time in the backstroke was a season-best.

On the year, Napoli has turned in Fordham's fastest times in the 200 free (1:52.41), 500 free (5:03.14) and 1000 free (10:17.14) with her 1000 free time establishing a new school record. She also has the fastest 200 fly time (2:04.70).

In the St. Francis meet, Krok established a school record in the three-meter diving competition with a score of 281.55, breaking her own record of 276.45 set earlier this year. She also placed second in the one-meter event with a total of 269.48.

On the year, Krok has the top three meter diving mark at Fordham (281.55) and the second best one meter score (257.63).

The Fordham men's and women's swimming and diving squads will next be in action on Wednesday, February 18th, as they compete in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championships to be held at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo from the 18th through the 21st.
