Men's DMR Victorious at New Balance Collegiate Invitational

The Fordham University men's and women's indoor track and field squads competed on day one of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the 168th St. Armory on Friday.

Leading the way was the men's Distance Medley Relay of Clifton Hilario, Brandon Ryan, Brian Schmidt and Tom Finnerty, which won the college race in a season-best time of 10:06.58, almost seven seconds ahead of runners-up, the University of Delaware. The winning time improved on their previous IC4A qualifying mark.

On the women's side, Brigid Moriarty placed 24th in the 3000m for the Rams in a season-best time of 10:20.84.

Other men competing on the first day included Paul Szczepaniak, who placed 27th in the 1000m (2:32.70), Ryan Campi, who was 30th in the 1000m (2:33.45), Ryan Serkes, who took 34th in the 1000m (2:34.45) and Chris Kozlowski, who was 45th in the shot put (46' 9.5").

Other women competing for Fordham included Jana Trenk, who was 46th in the 3000m (11:01.65) and Dana Mitchell, who took 52nd in the 500m (1:21.51).

The Rams close out competition at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
