Charlottesville, Va. - The Fordham baseball team played two of four scheduled games this weekend on Friday, but came away empty with a pair of 6-2 losses to Delaware and Virginia.

In game one, Delaware's Pat Dameron was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, while Brian Rorick allowed two earned runs over six innings, as the Blue Hens handed the Rams a 6-2 loss, taking advantage of four Fordham errors.

The Rams (1-3) started the game scoring first for the third consecutive game, as Bobby DiNardo came through with an RBI-single in the top of the first to score Danny Leach, who singled and moved to second on a walk to Mike Mobbs.

Delaware (3-2) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning, as Carlos Alonso led off with a walk and scored on a double by Ryan Cuneo. Cuneo eventually came around to score on a ground out by Jared Olson.

The Rams knotted the game at two in the top of the third inning. Mobbs started the inning with a one-out single off the pitcher and then stole second. After Mobbs moved to third on a balk, Ryan McCrann singled through the right side to score Mobbs.

The Blue Hens recaptured the lead with a single run in the bottom of the third. With two outs, Chris Nehl walked and Olson singled to right. Bill Merkler then singled down the left field line to score Nehl.

Delaware increased the lead to two, 4-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pat Dameron led off the inning with a double to center off Fordham reliever John Flanagan, which was followed by an RBI-double by Kyle Davis.

The Blue Hens capped the scoring in the eighth, as Dameron hit a two-run home run to right, his first of the season.

Max Krakowiak (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits in five innings of work. John Flanagan came on in relief, giving up two earned runs on four hits in three innings. At the plate, Bobby DiNardo and Ryan McCrann each had two hits and an RBI.

In game two, Virginia's Danny Hultzen allowed six hits over six innings, while striking out 12 batters, while Franco Valdez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, as the Cavaliers handed the Rams a 6-2 loss.

The Cavaliers (6-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI-double by Steven Proscia.

Virginia increased their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of third on an RBI-single by John Barr and a two-run double by Franco Valdes.

The Rams (1-4) then cracked the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. DiNardo started the inning with an infield single. Chris Kaible then hit a ground ball to short, which then got thrown away into right field, allowing DiNardo to go to third. DiNardo then scored on a ground out by Alex Kenny. Mobbs then singled home Kaible from second base to make it a 6-2 game.

That deficit would be as close as the Rams would get, as the Cavaliers recorded 16 strikeouts on the afternoon, between starter Danny Hultzen (12) and reliever Robert Morey (4).

J.P. Mack (0-2) took the loss, throwing seven innings, allowing five earned runs on ten hits with six strikeouts, while Greg Dimmling pitched a scoreless eighth inning. At the plate, Mike Mobbs was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Bobby DiNardo and Chris Kaible each had a hit and a run scored.

The Fordham baseball team will continue their stint in Charlottesville on Saturday, February 28th, when they have their second game against Virginia, beginning at 9:00 AM, which is a schedule change due to possible inclement weather.
