Men's Basketball Continues Atlantic 10 Season Tonight

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's basketball squad will continue their 2009 Atlantic 10 season tonight when they play host to the University of Massachusetts Minutemen in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and online at www.wfuv.org Live. The game will also be streamed live on the internet by clicking here and live stats are available via GameTracker.

The Rams enter the game with a 3-17 overall record, 1-7 in the Atlantic 10, and are coming off an 87-62 conference loss at George Washington last Saturday. Massachusetts enters the game with an 8-13 overall record, 3-5 in the A-10, and is coming off a 68-64 A-10 loss to Saint Joseph's in Amherst on Sunday.

Fordham will be led into the game by freshman guard Jio Fontan, who leads the team and all Atlantic 10 freshmen in scoring with a 15.0 ppg average and in assists with 98. He has scored in double figures in nine straight games, averaging 17.7 ppg over that stretch. Sophomore guard Mike Moore is second on the team in scoring (11.1 ppg) while Bronx native Chris Bethel leads the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and is third in scoring with a 10.3 ppg average, but he will miss the rest of the season due to injury.

Massachusetts will be led into the game by Ricky Harris, who is averaging 19.0 ppg, third best in the Atlantic 10, shooting 42.1% (64-152) from the behind the arc while Anthony Gurley is averaging 11.6 ppg and 3.6 rpg.

Wednesday's game will be the 34th meeting between Fordham and Massachusetts on the hardwood. The Minutemen lead the all-time series, 22-11, but the Rams won last year's meeting, 76-72, in Amherst.
