Newport News, Va. - Fordham University junior Brian Schmidt (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and freshmen Sean Atkinson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) and Ashley Davis (El Sobrante, Calif./St. Mary's College HS) received Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field weekly honors today, for the week ending December 13th. Schmidt captured the Men's Performer of the Week award, while Atkinson and Davis picked up the respective Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week honors.

Schmidt picks up his first Performer of the Week award after twice being named Rookie of the Week during the 2007-08 season. Schmidt won the award after winning the 1,000 meter run at the Christmas Classic in 2:31.9.

Atkinson, who was named A-10 Rookie of the Week last week, registered his second weekly honor after winning the 500 meter dash at the Christmas Classic this past Friday in 1:07.7 seconds.

Davis earns her first career honor after placing second in the 1,000 meter run at the Christmas Classic in a time of 3:14.1. She later helped the 4x800 relay team to an event win in 10:13.5.

The trio and the rest of the Fordham track & field teams are now off for Christmas Break until January 8th, when they compete at the NYU Gotham Cup at the 168th St. Armory.
