Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University women's crew competed at the 2009 Head of the Charles on the Charles River on October 18th. In wintery conditions, with snow falling throughout the day, the lone Fordham entry, the championships 4, placed 15th.
The championship four was comprised of Stephanie Narduzzo at stroke, Alyssa Sunofsky at three, Nadia Abdul ghani at two and Francesca Andrea at bow with Christina Costa serving as coxswain.
In the championship 4, the Rams managed to finish ahead of perennial rowing powers, Michigan, as well as Atlantic 10 foes, Rhode Island. Fordham finished in a time of 4:50.466, less than half a second behind Alabama, but five seconds ahead of Michigan and almost eight seconds in front of Rhode Island.
"I was pleased with the showing of the crew," said head coach Ted Bonanno. "It was a long, challenging course that was made more difficult by the weather but it was nice to finish ahead of Michigan and Rhode Island."
