The final tournament of the fall for the Fordham golf team ended early as the final day of play at the Knights Golf Invitational at New Jersey National in Basking Ridge, N.J. was cancelled due to rain. The results from the first day are the final results for the tournament with Fordham taking fifth place.
Robert Morris won the team title, firing a 312, while Rider placed second (320) and FDU third (321). Lafayette took fourth place with a 322, while Monmouth and Fordham tied for fifth (325). Saint Peter's finished seventh (335) and Manhattan eighth (338), followed by Wagner (339), St. Francis (351) and Hofstra (355).
Sophomore Devon O'Rourke and freshman Jason Del Rosso both shot a 79 to lead the Rams, as they both tied for 11th overall. David Newman tied for 21st after a round of 81, while Brody Nieporte tied for 36th with an 86.
Also competing for Fordham were Nick Polvino (87 - T-39th), Nik Andresen (89 - T-46th), Brendan Green (89 - T-46th) and Charles Smith (91 - 52nd)
The Knights Golf Invitational wraps up a successful fall season for the Fordham golfers, who won the 2009 ECAC Championship and saw Del Rosso set a school record with a round of 67 at the Dartmouth Invitational on September 26th.
