Bronx, N.Y. - In recent games, the Fordham men's soccer team has been living dangerously, scoring late in regulation or in overtime to pull out victories. Tonight at Jack Coffey Field, the Rams did both as Matt Courtenay scored with 1:46 left in regulation to tie the game, while Tim Richardson scored 2:10 into overtime, as Fordham defeated Richmond, 2-1, in overtime to stay unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play.

Fordham goes over the .500 mark for the first time this season at 6-5-1 overall, and stayed unbeaten in the Atlantic 10 at 3-0, while Richmond fell to 3-8-1 on the year, 0-2-1 in the league. Fordham has now won four straight games, and it is the first time since 1996, that the Rams have started conference play with three straight wins.

All the excitement began with 12:14 left in regulation, where Richmond netted the first goal of the game. Near the endline by the Fordham goal, Jed Antoun flicked a pass over his head backwards to Rob Scherer, who was able to knock it in from eight yards out.

The Rams pulled out all the stops in the waning minutes to get the equalizer, and were rewarded with 1:46 left on the clock. Alex Brunbauer drove down the right side of the box, getting a cross in front, which Matt Courtenay was able to head home for his second goal of the season to tie the game.

Then just 2:10 into overtime, Courtenay found Tim Richardson down the left side of the field for an attack. Richardson lined up from 25 yards out and bent a shot toward the far post, which hit the post and went in for his third goal of the season and his second game-winner.

In net, Fordham's Ryan Meara made two saves, while Richmond's Brock Tomlinson had five stops.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 18th, as they host George Washington University at approximately 2:30 PM on Jack Coffey Field, as a part of a soccer doubleheader.
