Fordham University freshman cross country runner Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week it was announced today for the week ending October 11th. It is the second weekly award for Saad, who also received the accolade on September 28th, and the second time in the past two years that a Fordham runner received A-10 men's cross country rookie of the week honors (Brian Riley won the award twice last year).
Saad was the second Fordham finisher, placing 34th overall of 126 runners, at the 2009 Metropolitan Championships held on Friday, October 9th at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. He covered the 8K course in a time of 27:17.
Fordham placed fifth of 13 teams competing at the Metropolitan Championships.
The Fordham cross country squad will next be in action on Sunday, October 18th, when compete in the Red Storm Classic in Cunningham Park in Queens beginning at 10:30 a.m.
