Two Fordham Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Northeast Region Honors

Jan. 29, 2009

Bronx, N.Y. - Soccer Buzz Magazine announced their postseason awards today, as Fordham's junior defender Lauren Bustos (Altadena, California/Flintridge Sacred Heart) and senior forward Kim Boulos (Croton, N.Y./Croton Harmon) were selected Second Team All-Northeast Region. The Northeast Region includes players from 43 universities and colleges.

This marks the second straight season that Fordham has had two All-Northeast selections as Courtney Fedge and Katie McDermott earned the honors last season.

Bustos was the 2008 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Atlantic 10. She was the first Fordham women's soccer player to earn a major Atlantic 10 award, and the third Fordham defender to earn First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, joining Kara Coniker (2000) and Corey Dunfey (2003). She started all 20 contests this season and anchored a defensive unit that registered eight shutouts, including five in league play, and limited 13 Ram opponents to one goal or less.

Boulos was also a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, as well as an Academic All-Conference pick this season. She had an outstanding senior campaign, leading the Rams in goals (10), points (23), and game winning goals (5). A two-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, seven of Boulos' ten goals came in conference play, while overall she became the seventh Ram to have double-digit goals in a season. Academically, Boulos is studying International Political Economy with a 3.58 GPA.

Fordham finished the 2008 season with a 12-4-2 record, and ranked 10th in the Northeast Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine.
