Jon Arnold Named Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Week

Jan. 26, 2009

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University sophomore Jon Arnold (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) was named Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 24th. This is the second Rookie of the Week award for Arnold this year.

At the Terrier Classic on Saturday, Arnold won the long jump, breaking the school record with a distance of 23' 8", surpassing Ralph St. Pierre's 1939 school record of 23' 1", the oldest track and field record at Fordham. The jump qualified Arnold for the IC4A Championship to be held on March 8th and 9th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Arnold is also a wide receiver with the Fordham football squad, appearing in seven games for the Rams in 2008, making 18 catches for 108 yards and one touchdown.

The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Thursday, January 29th, as they compete at the 2009 Metropolitan Championship, held at the 168th St. Armory, beginning at 1:00 PM.
