Fordham's Alex Powell netted five goals, while Ryan Hultman had four goals, but the water polo Rams came up short in their CWPA conference opener, falling 13-12 in overtime to Queens College.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 6-4 on the season, 0-1 in the Northern Division.
With the score knotted at ten, Fordham had possession with the final seconds ticking away in regulation. Fordham's Jakob Muller got off a final shot to possibly win the game, but Queens goalkeeper Jason Shotwell came up with the save, forcing overtime.
In overtime, Queens netted the first three goals, taking a 13-10 lead. Fordham would not give up, scoring twice to get within one score, but the Rams however could not get the equalizer in their final possession.
Besides Powell and Hultman, Muller, Luke Forand, and Andrew Dentinger also scored for Fordham, while Timmy Will made six saves in net.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on October 3rd, as they begin competition at the 2008 Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, California. The Rams will take on the University of Redlands at 3:30 PM ET and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7:30 PM ET.
