Women's Tennis Drops Opener to Rhode Island

Sept. 13, 2008

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham women's tennis team dropped their season opener to Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon by a 6-1 count. The postponed match from Friday saw only senior Dominique Liguori get a victory this afternoon.

Ligouri topped Kirsten Leikem at first singles in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3. That win turned out to be the lone bright spot for the Rams, as Rhode Island won the other five singles matches in straight sets.

Rhode Island also took the double point, despite Liguori and Martina Featherston winning their first doubles match, 8-6.
