Box Score

Bronx, N.Y. - Day one of the Rose Hill Classic came to a disappointing end for the Fordham faithful on Friday night as the Fordham volleyball team fell in three sets to the visiting Princeton Tigers. Set scores were 25-13, 25-12, and 25-22.

The win came for the Tigers in their first match of the year, and the Rams fell to 6-4 with the home court loss.

Princeton came out firing in the match, hitting .345 and .385 in games one and two, respectively. Coming into the third set, the Rams responded with just as much tenacity, trading blows with the Tigers throughout. Sophomore Katie Wells came off the bench in the third game with two timely kills to hold Princeton off; but in the end, Princeton's defense, which accounted for 48 team digs over the course of the match, proved to be too much for the Rams handle as they dropped the set 25-22.

For Fordham, Christi Griffiths had a team-high seven kills and three blocks, while Samantha Jacobson posted 12 assists, three digs and three blocks. Megan Arend also had seven digs for the Rams.

Princeton's Lindsey Ensign recorded a game-high 15 kills with a .750 hitting percentage, while also recording three aces.

In the first match of the tournament, Stony Brook topped Manhattan in three sets, 25-10, 25-11, and 25-8.

Day two of the Rose Hill Classic will begin at 11:30 AM on Saturday, as the Seawolves of Stony Brook battle Princeton. In the 2:00 PM showdown, rival Manhattan will take on the Rams, followed by Princeton against Manhattan at 4:30 PM. Volleyball action will culminate with a match up between Stony Brook and Fordham at 7:00 PM.
